Ashton Keynes Vs Odd Down (BATH) Womens Match Report
Travelling to Ashton Keynes today with the bare 11, carrying injuries, players out of position and in very hot conditions was always going to be a big ask. I’m very proud of the team today.
Despite losing 3-1 , I thought we played some really good football at times. Dominating the 1st 15 minutes and looking the better team for long periods of the game.
In the 2nd half the Down looked more likely to score despite riding our luck a little when Ashton Keynes broke the offside line at times.
I believe with subs and a couple of missing players on the pitch the result would probably have gone in our favour.
We went behind on 11 minutes against the run of play , but 7 mins later on 18 minutes after a fantastic through ball assist from Jess, Kerry picked up a 2nd goal for the team with a well taken finish to put us 1-1.
After the water break 1st half Ashton came at us which the Down defended well. The Down always looked dangerous in attack and looked likely to get a 2nd goal. Unfortunately against the run of play, Ashton Keynes move into a 2-1 lead.
The Down created an opening from the right side of the 6 yd box, hitting the inside of the post only to see the ball bounce back straight into the keepers hands.
On 43 minutes a misjudged back pass saw an Ashton Keynes player through one on one with Molly and a certain goal was unavoidable.
2nd half started with the Down going to a back 3 and started to push hard for a comeback. However it wasn't meant to be. Final score 3-1.
There was many good individual performances out there today. Player of the match was a joint affair. With the returning of Jess who was all over the pitch creating havoc in and for Belle for great energetic and gutsy performance on the left side in defence and midfield .
That completes a weird up and down season for the team !! Starting as Keynsham u18s, becoming Odd Down u18s . Finishing as Odd Down women’s 1st team.
We intend to continue training on a Thursday night, 7-8.30pm up at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground.

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs Radstock Town Match Report
After a difficult few weeks on the pitch, Odd Down held the current league leaders, Radstock Town in an entertaining Good Friday bank holiday fixture at the Lane.
Welcoming back, former Down manager Ray Johnston in front of a sizeable crowd, Radstock looked the more dominant and confident side in the first 20 minutes with limited chances for both sides. Radstock took the lead mid-way through the half from a well worked near post header from midfielder Adie Harvey where the Down defence should have done better. Odd Down responded well and right on half-time equalised through Jake Thomas with a fine solo effort.
Early in the 2nd period Odd Down failed to learn from the first half goal with an almost identical near post header from Harvey nodding in his second.
The Down responded well and pressed Radstock who faded towards the final quarter and the impressive Dom Walter equalised from 30 yards with a stunning curling effort into the top corner, leading to wild celebrations from the home supporters.
As the Down pressed for the winner, possession was lost in the Radstock half and a long through ball split the Down defence for Jacob Reader to calmly slot past the approaching Charlie Philips to what looked like the winner and a cruel blow for the Down. With only minutes left the Down made one final push for an equaliser and gained a corner. The whole Down team including keeper Philips piled forward for the kick delivered by Thomas, which was partially cleared but only direct to midfielder Jack O’Brien who hit a wonder 18 yard volley into the Radstock net, leading to further wild scenes and really what the Down deserved from tie.
Moments later the full-time whistle was blown and the points were shared in an enthralling local derby.
The Down return to league action on Monday away to Warminster and then are back home again next Saturday against Bishop Sutton where all support is very much appreciated.
Thank you also to our match-day sponsors Pin High Golf Society who selected Dom Walter as the Man of the Match.
Best of luck also to Radstock Town in their remaining league matches and challenge for the league title and promotion.

Odd Down (BATH) Women's vs University of Bath Ladies Match Report
The latest team to visit the Lew Hill Memorial ground to face our women's team was University of Bath ladies 1st team. We under no doubt this would be one of our toughest test’s so far for the Down. It was University of Bath that took the lead followed by a quick second goal.
The Down did get one back from a left footed shot from Kerry Vlachou just before half time. The second half started as much as the same as the first half with both teams playing some great football all over the pitch. The University of Bath finally got another goal to make it 3-1.
Player of the game was a joint one this week, it went to Kerry Vlachou and Falisha Shahbaz.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank the ground staff for the fantastic work they continue to put into making the pitch playable and looking amazing after the current weather.

Wells City vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report
Odd Down suffered late heartbreak away at Wells City with a last minute winner.
On a difficult surface the honours were fairly even with Jake Thomas striking the post for the Down from a well worked move and then moments later central midfielder Dom Walter forced the Wells keeper, Wilkinson into a fine save. Wells then took the lead following a mix-up in the Down defence with a poor clearance leaving Warwick to slot into an empty net to take a 1-0 half time lead, where the Down were unfortunate to be behind.
The Down came out in the 2nd half with a positive attitude and pressured Wells, Alfie Andrew’s was taken down in the corner of the penalty box and the referee pointed towards the spot. Jake Thomas coolly slotted the spot kick and the Down were level. Then the game took a turn, with the Down looking the more likely to score, Raft Waugh for the Down was given his marching orders for a moment of frustration.
Wells capitalised on this movements later when they were awarded a penalty kick from a late challenge in the box, Murray scoring for 2-1. The Down responded immediately from the kick-off with a good through ball and Alfie Andrew’s free to calmly slot the equaliser for 2-2 with 15 minutes remaining. The Down 10 men dug deep and looked to be heading from a fantastic point, until the final moments when Morgan struck well from the left to claim the points for 3-2 victory with no time for the depleted Down to reply.
Overall a much more encouraging performance from the Down after the heavy reverse last week against Portishead and we go again next week at Hengrove.

Odd Down (BATH) Women's Vs University of Bath Ladies Match Report
This week’s opponents to face the Down at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground were University of Bath ladies. The Down started off nervously in the first half not moving the ball as they normally do. As a result this limited the Down chances to only two shots on goal in the first half, our defence we solid and made light work of any attack University of Bath through at them and the first half ended 0-0.
A formation change at the start of the secon half made a huge difference and started to cause University of Bath no end of problems. On 61mins Grace makes an interception outside the box and scores 1-0. The Down then stepped it up another gear and found themselves 2-0 up on the 73rd minute, after a error from the University of Bath goal keeper, leaving Nicky finding the back of the net.
The third a final goal of the game came following an assist from Liv who found Nicky, who made no mistake finding the back of the net again to make the final score 3-0 to the Down.
Player of the match went to Falisha..

Westfields Women's vs Odd Down (BATH) Women's Match Report
Odd Down’s Women's opponents were Westfield women in Hereford, after the great result in the week the team were on a high going into this game, right from the off it was attack after attack from the Down not letting Westfield settle or get going. In 11 minutes Ruby picked the ball up in her own half placing a perfectly weighted pass for Liv to run onto and score 0-1. Just under 2 minutes and the Down were at it again, this time with an assist from Macy to get grace a goal 0-2. The game carried on pretty much the same with the Down causing Westfield problems all over the pitch, Westfield now started to get frustrated and after an off the ball incident, the ref decided to send both players off to calm down for 10 minutes. 30 seconds later Westfield conceited another goal after a mistake by their keeper, which Sophia punished the keeper for her mistake 0-3.
Westfield came out with a different tactic second half, trying the long ball over the top, but our solid back four delt with it every time. Making it look easy and when the odd one did get through our goal keeper Rosie Kelsey would be there to mop it up.
On 53 minute that the Down got their fourth goal of the afternoon with a assist form Nicky who threaded a brilliant ball between two defenders for Macy to score, 0-4.
On 60 minutes Macy was at it again scoring her second, this time with an assist from Grace 0-5.
on 65 minutes the Down were awarded a penalty, unfortunately the Westfields Keeper saved the spot kick.
Westfields managed to get a consolation goal at the end. Making the final score 5-1 to the Down.
Player of the game went to Ruby for her faultless performance on the pitch, well done Ruby.
Odd Down (BATH) AFC vs Bitton AFC Match Report
The points were shared in this entertaining fixture at the Lane and credit must go to the ground staff, Andy Pike and the team the for getting the fixture on when so many other local fixtures fell to the current wet wether. Top work and the pitch held up well considering the rain we have experienced.
The first 30 minutes were frantic and Bitton, on the ascendancy took a deserved lead on 30 minutes, from a free kick lofted into the 6 yard box and the Down rearguard being unable to handle the cross efficiently leaving Beardwell to tap in at the back post. Bitton continued to press but a stubborn Down defence and keeper Philips held firm until the break. Half time 0-1.
The Down came out in the 2nd half and looked more comfortable and took the game direct to Bitton with an aggressive press, Bitton always looked dangerous in attack, but on 70 minutes the game was level. The impressive Down midfielder, Ndiaye took the ball at 25 yards and struck a fantastic low strike which left the keeper stranded, this set up a fantastic final 20 minutes where both teams went in search of the victory. Philips denied Bitton well with several saves and on the counter attack the Down looked dangerous but neither side found the killer goal. Full time 1-1
Man of the match went to former Bitton player, Charlie Roach for a superb defensive performance against his former teammates which featured several former Downers and was good to welcome them back.
Special mention and HUGE thank you to all the supporters and the Odd Down squad. There was a collection for our striker, Ben Millet who suffered a terrible knee injury a few weeks back at Cribbs which resulted in an operation, Over £650 was raised for Ben who we all wish him the very best in his re-habilitation and look froward to welcoming him back in the shirt next season. Thank you also to Louise Maggs for doing the collection bucket.
The Down have next Saturday off, but return back to league action on the 6th March away at Cribbs Reserves.

Odd Down (BATH) Women's Vs Paulton Rovers Ladies Match Report
Odd down women's were back at the Lew hill Memorial ground for a the Tuesday night fixture under flood lights, after a few weeks with no games due to weather and cancellations from other teams. There was a worry that the team would be a bit rusty due to no matches, but this was not the case. They came really quickly out the blocks getting right into Paulton testing their defence right from the off, using the width of the pitch to our advantage, and on four minutes, with a fantastic pass form Nicky finding a gap in the Paulton defence to pick out Liv with a great first touch to score Odd Down’s first.
Paulton were put under constant pressure from Odd Down women's from both wings and great passing all over the park and on the odd occasion Paulton did get to attack Odd Down’s half, however it would be quickly shut down by hard pressing from Odd Down.
On 18 minutes the Down double there lead following a great pass from Flo to get liv down the right wing who whip in a brilliant cross and well timed run from Macy to volley home Odd Down’s second of the game. Paulton got one back just before half time. H-T 2-1,
The second half started pretty much the same but with more attacks coming through the middle from the Down but they could not find the net, on 68th minute, Grace picked the ball up just outside the area driving into the Paulton box her great ball control was too much for the Paulton defender who brought Grace down for a pen, Kira steps up to take the penalty, which was saved by the kipper on her first attempt but Kira quickly followed up and slotted it in, to make it 3-1 to the Down.
A great all round performance from the whole team, sponsors women of the game went to Molly, manager and coaches Women of the game went to grace and Macy.
Thank you as always to all the supporters for came and watch the game.

Bishop Sutton vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report
Conditions played a huge part in this fixture which saw the Down take the deserved 3 points and never really looked in any trouble, against a youthful and spirited Bishop Sutton side,
Playing up the slope in the first half, the Down looked to the width and created several openings, with the first opportunity from a Walters diving header hitting the post after a good flank move and cross. Down finally took a deserved lead when Andrew’s broke the line to put the Down 1-0 up, later followed by Waugh to slot home into an empty goal as the keeper advanced off his line. Philips saved well in the Down goal from a direct free-kick. Half time 0-2.
The heavy rain set in during the 2nd half and turned the conditions detonated badly in the final 20 minutes. The Down wasted several good opportunities during this period to increase the lead and Sutton never gave up looking for a consolation goal. One moment to mention was to Jack Obrien who struck a shot from 30 yards, only for the ball to slam the post, a shame as this would have been any goal of the season, but not to be and the Down held firm comfortably to take the points and a clean sheet!
Next week the Down finally return back home for a tough fixture against Bitton.

Odd Down (BATH) Women's U18 Vs SGS Olveston United U18 Match Report
Odd Down (BATH) Women's Under 18 were hosting SGS Olveston United U18 at a very windy Lew Hill Memorial Ground.
It was the Down who started really well attacking Olveston straight from the off and was rewarded on 4mins with a well-placed pass from Maddy to find Nicky who calmly slots it into the back of the net.
Olveston started to have more of the ball and on 8 mins after a goal mouth scramble were level.
Olveston was now putting pressure on the Down with a number of shots only to be kept out by goalkeeper Rosie. However on 31st minutes Olveston took the lead and just before half time Olveston found the net again, to make the half time H-T score 3-1 to Olveston ,
Second half The Down were now using the wings more effectively and causing problems for Olveston down the left and the right wing, but just couldn't find that final ball through
On 54 mins Olveston beat the offside trap, to make it 4-1 and that's how it ended.
Well done to all the players for a great game in horrible weather conditions. Women of the Match went to the Down goalkeeper Rosie Kelsey for her outstanding performance between the sticks.
A huge thank you to all the supporters that turned out in the horrible weather conditions to support the girls.

Tupsley Girls U18 Vs Odd Down (BATH) Women's U18 Match Report
It was an early start today travelling away to Tupsley for Odd down u18 women. We arrived at Tupsley with a number of players unwell or injured and had to play players in positions they have never played in and playing against a much improved Tupsley side. Odd down started nervously, but on 15 mins grace picked up from a defensive rebound to put odd down ahead, but 4 mins later tupsley got an equaliser, for the next 12 mins odd down we’re putting Tupsley under pressure from the left hitting the crossbar twice and the post. Unfortunately on 31 mins tupsley picked the ball up outside the box, odd down failed to clear it and Tupsley scored, then 7 mins later Tupsley scored again to make it 3-1. The girls didn’t let their heads go down and were straight back at Tupsley putting them under pressure and this paid off, grace making a great block outside the Tupsley box skipping past two players to score on 40 mins. The last 5 mins was mostly odd down putting pressure on Tupsley, H-T 3-2 , at half time.
A change of formation for odd down and Tupsley were kept in their on half with odd down hitting the post twice the crossbar again and some good saves from the Tupsley keeper. Unfortunately the game ended 3-2 to Tupsley.
The team did everything they could with limited players available and were unlucky to not come home with the 3points, just one of them games.
W.O.G went to Sophia in the first 5 mins picking up a nasty rib injury from a elbow. Than came back on played upfront first half then on the wing a position Sophia has never played before and had a great game.
Thanks again to all the travelling fans who made the 158 mile round journey, it’s the Christmas break now, so merry Christmas from everyone at odd down u 18’s women’s team.

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs Longwell Green Sports Match Report
In a close and scrappy encounter at a blustery Odd Down, Longwell Green Sports took the three points.
There was little to spilt the teams with Down keeper Charlie Philips stopping well and then Ben Millet going close for the Down, before Clarke scored for the visitors after a good low cross, right on the half time whistle.
The conditions worsened in the 2nd half and not until the final 15 minutes there really was not much to mention in the game. The Down pushed for an equaliser and really should have scored when Land shot over from close range and Hare had an opportunity when in the area. But not to be and Longwell held on for the points to avenge the two earlier defeats inflicted by the Down in the season.
The Development fixture again was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

🎄Festive Message From The Club 🎄
Wotton Rovers u17 Girls v’s Odd Down (Bath) U18’s Women's Match Report
Due to the weather over the past few days, we were unsure if today’s league match away to Wotton Rovers u17 girls would go ahead, but a late pitch inspection by the Wotton coaches decided the pitch was ok to play on. When we arrived the pitch was not in brilliant condition with goal mouths water logged and the rest of the pitch in pretty much the same condition, but the game went ahead. It took a bit of time for Odd Down to adapt to the heavy and water logged pitch, preventing the team from playing their usual fast flowing football. We spent the first 24 minutes having shot after shot, but just not being clinical enough to score. On the 25th minute after a great run through a number of players by Martha found Nicky who scored, 0-1 to Odd Down, it seemed to knock Wotton’s confidence and Odd Down had Wootton pinned into their own half peppering the Wotton goal but unable to score, on the 32nd minute Martha was at it again terrorising the Wotton defence running past players before laying off for Maddie to calmly slot it past the keeper to make it 0-2 to Odd Down.
Odd Down kept the pressure on Wotton and on the 35miniute Isabella picked the ball up in her own half, then picked out a peach of pass which Sophia ran onto and scored, 0-3 Odd Down Halftime.
After 45 minutes played on a heavy pitch, both sides were finding it hard to stay on their feet. On 55 minutes Wotton got one back after a goal mouth scramble, making the score Wotton 1-3 Odd Down.
Odd Down stepped it up again and once again Wooton were pinned in their own half with shots hitting the post, going wide and the Wotton goalkeeper making some good saves, Odd Down left it until the 87 minute to score the last goal of the game, Nicky picking the ball up 25 yards out dancing past players playing the ball to Grace, who slots it into the back of the net, Final score Wotton 1 – 4 Odd Down.
Well done to all of the team to get another win in very challenging pitch conditions. Women of the match was a hard this week due to a huge team effort by all the team, so we have two women of the match, Macy her great work out on the right wing all of match and Maddie for her hard work not just attacking play form mid-field but working back quickly to defend to put a stop to any counter attack from Wotton.
A huge thank you to our traveling supporters for their continued support at the game today.
AEK Boco Vs Odd Down (BATH ) AFC Match Report.
Odd Down went down to a solitary goal away at AEK Boco on a bitterly cold afternoon in Bristol, on a difficult sticky pitch which really did limit the quality of play.
Boco adapted better to the conditions and took the lead on 15 minutes when a cross from the left wing was headed back across the goal for the unmarked Sam Thomas to score from close range. Odd Down failed to make any real open opportunities and went in, 1-0 down at the break and all to play for.
Playing down the slope in the 2nd half, the Down struggled to sustain any pressure and lacked a real attacking threat, the only opportunity came late on when a Tom Pawley free-kick skimmed the crossbar. In the final moments the Down were reduced to 10 men with George Pawley dismissed for a second yellow card which summed up a frustrating afternoon. Boco held on comfortably to their lead and took the three points in a close match dictated by the conditions.
The Down look to regroup and go again next Saturday at home v Longwell Green on the 9th December 3pm kick off.
The Development fixture at home was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
Congratulations to the Down 18s girls team who won 4-1 away at Wotton Rovers on Sunday. 👏🏻

Odd Down (BATH) Women's U18 Vs Westfields Women's
Our first home game at the Lew hill memorial ground, the team, coaches and supporters were all excited to get back to playing football again after no games for over 4 weeks, the team had a rusty start finding themselves 2 down in four minutes, some calming words from the home dug out got the team back on track, playing the fantastic fast flowing football we are used to seeing the team play, not long later Martha got one back from an assist from Nicky, one minute later the game was level when Nicky scored from an assist from Martha, 8 mins later Westfield got back in front from a own goal, this was short lived as Maddie found the net assisted by Grace, it was now Grace’s turn to score from a Macy assist , odd down were now in full swing with fantastic football that Westfield could not cope with, H-T score 4-3.
Second half kicked off with wave after wave of attacks from odd down, on 55 mins Maddy scores her 2nd of the game assisted by Nicky, 3 minutes later Martha bags her second from a Macy assist, 64 minutes Nicky also scores her 2nd goal of the game from another Martha assist, 1 minute later Westfield get one back, this did not affect odd down’s hunger for more goals, so on 75 minute Macy smashes home her 1st goal of the game assisted by Nicky, less than 4 minutes later Nicky scores to complete her well deserved hat trick from a Liv assist, on the 90th minute Sophia scores assisted by Liv making the final score 10-4.
It was a great team display today, women of the game went to Falisha for her unbelievable defensive play, the coaching team ,players and parents would like to wish a huge thank you to odd down (bath) AFC, for their support and making us all feel so welcome at the club.

Kingsdown Vs Odd Down (BATH) Development Match Report
Kingsdownhad switched the game from Southbrook Rec to the 3G at Kingsdown School to ensure the game against bottom of the table Odd Down (Bath) Development went ahead.
Kingsdown were rewarded for their efforts when U18 player Josh Atwell gave them an early lead in only the fourth minute of the game. Given the season the Down are having Kingsdown may have expected a comfortable afternoon with plenty more goals, but they found themselves involved in a tight contest. Kingsdown did, however, go close to extending their lead five minutes before the break, Alex Fenton seeing his effort hit the crossbar but it remained just the one at half time. Kingsdown started the brighter of the two sides in the second half, creating a couple of early chances but found themselves pegged back on 54 minutes. A mix-up in defence allowing Ben Millett in to equalise for the Down. It then remained all square until ten minutes from time, Kingsdown’s Antonio Gerrish firing his side back in front with his seventh goal of the campaign. Kingsdown finally made sure of all three points in the final minute of the match, a ball from Adam Bright putting Louis O’Shea in on goal and he made no mistake to make the final score 3-1 to Kingsdown.
The win for Kingsdown saw them climb up to sixth spot in the table with games in hand over the two sides immediately above them in the table.

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs Keynsham Town Match Report
Odd Down produced a sterling second half performance coming from behind and putting amends for the earlier
heavy away defeat to Keynsham Town.
Odd Down missed a great opportunity in the opening minutes and were then punished as the youthful Keynsham Town pounced on a defensive mix-up to go one up. Odd Down levelled midway through the half with a very well taken goal by Milo Murgatroyd who shot to the right corner after a solo run. Half Time 1-1
The Down came out the second half with better tempo and took a deserved lead, with a great goal from Milo Murgatroyd to the delight of the home supporters behind the goal. Odd Down pressed in search of more goals with Ben Millets effort ruled off side and Milo denied a hat trick with his 25 yard effort rattling the post. Keynsham pressed for an equaliser but we’re finally undone after good work from Andrews to set up captain Raft Waugh who smashed in the third and celebrating with his trademark somersault. Final Score 3-1

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs Longwell Green Sports Match Report
On a horrid evening with torrential rain throughout the match, the Down making several changes put Saturdays result behind them to progress into the next round of the Les Philips Cup.
Raft Waugh claimed a hat trick on the evening striking from close range midway in the first half where Odd Down pressed well but really unable to find the final killer ball. Half Time 1-0
Waugh struck the 2nd following a good move and individual run by the forward, the game seemed finished until Longwell Green scored late on, following a long ball free kick direct into the box with a well taken header by Horrock. Odd Down rode the storm and in the final moments Waugh hit his and the Down’s 3rd with a well taken goal beating the advancing keeper and shooting from an acute angle from outside of the box. Odd Down advance into the next round where we will be away to either AEK Boco or Cribbs Reserves.
A good game for the Down and a deserved victory utilising the squad and showing
good depth. 👏🏻
The Development did themselves proud last night before going down 3-0 away at Melksham Development. Keep it going lads.

Please spread the word as we hope for a big bumper crowd to cheer on the mighty Down.
Hallen AFC Vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report
It proved an off day for Odd Down who produced an uncharacteristic performance away at Hallen going down 4-1.
It looked like normal service resumed on 30 minutes when the Down took the lead with Milo Murgatroyd slotting in a rebound off the post from a Ben Millet shot to go 1 up, but from there on the Down just didn’t get going.
Hallen quickly replied on 34 minutes through Attwell and then right on the half time whistle Hallen took the lead from close range after an contentious free kick where the officials awarded the goal despite obvious confusion.
Half Time 2-1.
The second half started a scrappy affair with the Down unable to create any meaningful chances. On 65 minutes Hallen struck on the counter and got a third through Banfield and then with the Down rattled, Hallen got a fourth on 70 minutes through Kosciolek. The Down made late changes and pressed for the final 20 but were only limited to long range efforts. The final score flattered the host but deserved the victory. Final score 4-1.
An off-day for the Down who go again on Tuesday evening in the Les Philips Cup at home versus Longwell Green, followed swiftly on Friday evening where we have an evening under the lights with Keynsham the visitors. So spread the word as we hope for a bumper crowd.

Cheddar Vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report
Odd Down produced a solid team performance in the mud at Cheddar, where just moments prior to the match a torrential downpour put the match into doubt. However the officials deemed the pitch playable and thankfully the weather remained kind for the afternoon.
Odd Down adapted quickly to the conditions and used the wings for attacking options with Milo Murgatroyd finishing off a fine run to put the Down 1 up in the opening minutes. This was swiftly followed with Ben Millet adding a 2nd on 10 minutes following a good combination between the front two. Cheddar quickly responded with a corner and following a scrappy passage of play pull one back from six yards out to make it an entertaining opening quarter. The Down always looking a threat then increased the lead with Ben Millet again the scorer for his brace around 25 minutes. Half Time 1-3.
On a very sticky surface, the Down managed the 2nd half well with Cheddar probing but without any final punch and the Down defence working in unison to deny any further reply. In fact Down really should have put the game beyond doubt with at least 3 or 4 ‘one on one’ opportunities which were not taken. Late on Down keeper, Charlie Philips made a good diving save and the impressive Down defence stood firm to claim the points and continue to climb the league table. Well done lads.
Men of Match - David Hare, Liam Hilditch
Both were outstanding at the back and difficult to split an individual this week.
The 1st team return to league action next Saturday away at Hallen.
The Development had a difficult afternoon at home against Wooton Basset Development but go again next Saturday at home.

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs Bristol Telephones Match Report
Odd Down avenged the first day of the season away defeat to the Telephones with a comprehensive 5-0 home victory under the lights at the Lane.
The Down making several enforced changes made a fast start to the fixture and deservedly took the early lead from Abdu Mbaye with a fine strike to the far left corner. This was swiftly followed by a brace from striker Ben Millet with a glancing near post header and fine effort after leaving the central defence as spectators as he calmly and slotted past the keeper from some 25 yards out to make it 3-0. Half Time 3-0
Shortly after the break the Down came out of the blocks fast to force a Telephones defensive error, and for Ben Millet to pounce again and claim his thoroughly deserved hat trick and to make it 4-0 and put the game beyond doubt. The aggressive Telephone pressed with mostly long direct balls and the remainder of the match became a stop/start affair with numerous fouls and cautions. The Down defence held firm, and in the final moments Ben Millet was fouled on the edge of the box and from the resulting free kick (which can be viewed on our club X account) he slotted into the corner to make it 5-0 with the keeper stranded as a spectator. Full Time 5-0
A perfect all-round performance from the entire Down squad who swiftly put Saturday’s disappointment behind them. We can single out every player for their individual performance, but a few names to mention were Charlie Philips in goal with his first Down clean sheet, George Pawley for his industrious effort in midfield and of course the man of the match with four goals, Ben Millet. Congratulations to all and the Down go again on Saturday with a trip to Cheddar.
Thank you for the continued crowd support and spread the word, we guarantee goals at the Lane!
Man of the Match – Ben Millet

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs Shirehampton Match Report
In another entertaining fixture at the Lane, the Down suffered late heartbreak with a 94th minute Shirehampton winner in a dramatic final 15 minutes.
Odd Down started slowly with Shirehampton taking a quick 2-0 lead in the first 20 minutes. Odd Down had to make two 1st half substitutions through injury and started to become more in to the game and should have replied but went in at half time 2 down. Half time 0-2.
After the break there was little between the sides and two further injuries to influential midfielders, Dom Walter and Curtis Dunn left the depleted Down with 10 players. This however galvanised the team with Alfie Andrews slotting in for 1-2. Shirehampton replied promptly to make if 3-1 and the points seemed secure. The Down with a ‘never say die’ attitude dug deep and replied with a well taken Milo Murgatroyd strike and then made it 3-3 with Abdu Mbaye levelling to wild scenes late on.
The drama didn’t stop there when on 92 minutes striker Ben Millet was fouled in the area and a penalty was awarded. Milo Murgatroyd took the kick to secure the points only for the kick to be well saved. This was not the end of the match and the Down with the momentum got caught just two minutes later when Bamford grabbed the winner for the visitors to take the three points. Full Time 3-4.
Man of the Match - Lewis Bahadur
The Development team finally got off the mark yesterday with a 4-2 away victory at Kingsdown Development. Well done to Prince and the lads. 👏🏻

Wellington Vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report
Odd Down went out of the Somerset Premier Cup away at Wellington on Wednesday evening.
Playing up the slope in the 1st half, the Down looked dangerous in attack but were caught on a corner with a close range flick to make it 1-0. Down nearly replied with Ben Millet striking the crossbar with the ball then judged not to cross the line. Wellington were awarded a penalty following a harsh decision against keeper Charlie Phillips, only for him to save well from the resulting spot kick. Down then fell 2-0 behind from a header following a central free-kick. Ben Millet pulled one back just before the break. Half Time 2-1
Playing down the slope Down pressed and equalised with an impressive long free free-kick from Ty Mulholland (which can be viewed on our Twitter account).
The game was then fairly even until the Down pressed the self destruct button conceding two from poor set piece headers which were well taken but preventable, Wellington then made it 5-2 with another well taken header. In the final moments the Down got a deserved consolation with Alfie Andrews slotting in following a good passing move. The game finished 5-3 which upon reflection was a harsh score line for the Down who go again.
Odd Down AFC wish Wellington good luck on the next round.
The 1st team return back home for league action this Saturday against Shirehampton, so get along and support the boys.

Longwell Green Sports Vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report
Odd Down’s winning run continued with their fourth win in as many weeks.
Odd Down started on the front foot creating several good chances and took the deserved lead early on through Milo Murgatroyd who calmly slotted for 1-0. The Down pressure continued and they really should have increased the lead, although Longwell Green nearly levelled late in the 1st half but for keeper, Charlie Phillips to make a fine diving save to keep the Down in front going into the break. Half Time 0-1
The second half saw Longwell Green come more into the match playing with a slight wind behind their backs and putting the Down defence under pressure. They eventually did equalise with good move down the right wing with Brown scoring from close range to make it 1-1. Odd Down sat deep but still looked dangerous on the break and swiftly replied with Murgatroyd again finding the target to go 2-1 up. Odd Down sustained a barrage of attacks in the final moments but again showed tremendous spirit with Philips and his stubborn defence holding on to take another fine 3 points.

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs Cribbs Resevers Match Report
Odd Down continued their fine recent form with a third consecutive league victory against Cribbs Reserves in another entertaining encounter.
The game started fairly even until the impressive George Pawley opened the scoring with a wonder strike from 30 yards to the top corner leaving the keeper as a spectator. Cribbs however struck back shortly after with a well taken header following a good move down the right wing. Half time 1-1.
Odd Down came out in the second half with more intensity and made an early change with Alfie Andrews returning from injury, he quickly responded to make an immediate impact and struck superbly at close range to make it 2-1. The Down continued the pressure and really should have increased their lead, but finally late on the hard working Dom Walter put the game to bed when he attacked the ball in the six yard box with a fantastic low diving header, a great finish. Cribbs continued to press for reply but the Down rearguard held firm for the fine 3-1 victory.
Man of the match could have gone to several players and after debate this week was awarded to striker Ben Millet. Well done to Ben and all the boys 👏🏻
The 1st team are back in action next Saturday away at Longwell Green.

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs AEK Boco Match Report
Odd Down recorded back to back victories in a week with an evenly contested match against AEK Boco, coming from behind for a fine 2-1 victory.
AEK Boco who included several former Downers from last season took the lead mid-way through the first half with a good move down the right wing with Scott delivering a direct cross across the box for Partridge to tap in at the back post. Odd Down regrouped and swiftly grabbed a equaliser right on half time with Partridge scoring at the wrong end directing a cross in to his own net. Half Time 1-1.
The second half continued much similar to the first half. Odd Down took the ascendancy in the final quarter and nearly took the lead with a Josh Swarbrick back post header, only for Ashley Bryan to make a fantastic goal line save for the visitors. The Odd Down pressure continued with the game in the balance, but going into the final minutes Odd Down finally grabbed the winner when striker Ben Millet calmly slotted the ball in to the net following a delivery in to the crowded penalty area. Boco looked to reply in the final moments glancing the Down crossbar from a cross and again nearly equalising on 96 minutes only for man of the match, David Hare to put in a fantastic block to deny the visitors. Odd Down held out for the final moments to gain a vital 3 points and are starting to rise up the league.
The next fixture will be at home against Cribbs Reserves on Saturday 23rd September 3pm kick off. All support is very welcome.
Odd Down AFC would like to thank Terry Norris for his kind match-day sponsorship which was much appreciated by the squad.

Bradford Town Vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report
Odd Down produced a fantastic second half team performance turning around a 2-0 half time deficit to record a 3-4 victory in an entertaining encounter at Bradford Town under the lights.
Bradford gained the early advantage on 7 minutes with a well taken Jordan goal at the back post. The encounter was then fairly even with chances at both ends, but things got worse for the Down on the 27th minute when midfielder Lewis Hartson was shown a red card for an adjudged dangerous tackle, deemed by many spectators to be an accidental slip on a greasy surface. A minute later Bradford capitalised and made it 2-0 after confusion in the Odd Down defence resulting in an unfortunate own goal. Half time 2-0
The 10 men of Odd Down regrouped after the break and scored on 48 minutes from new signing Josh Swarbrick, Odd Down continued to frustrate Bradford with a hard press and then the game took a turn on 56 minutes when former Downer, Charlie Saunders was given a straight red card for a dangerous tackle making it 10 v 10 for the remainder. A minute later Odd Down deservedly equalised through Ben Millet to make it 2-2. The Odd Down momentum continued who attacked the Bradford goal causing defensive errors and deservedly went ahead 2-3 on 65 minutes and then 2-4 on 74 minutes with another goal Ben Millet and Milo Murgatroyd adding the other.
Bradford made several substitutions and rallied late on against a resolute Odd Down rear guard, scoring from a free-kick which was disallowed for a foul on the Down keeper Charlie Phillips. Bradford did finally get on the scoresheet near 90 minutes with a close range effort from Johnson to make it 3-4, leaving it a very nervous and entertaining final few moments which included over 10 minutes of added time. Odd Down defended really well in numbers and held on to a well-deserved away victory.

The visitors took control with goals from Daniel Luce and Acey Mead which gave them a strong foothold, before the Down hit back at the end of the first half
The Down had further chances to get back into the game in the second half, but couldn’t quite force home a leveller, and it proved costly when Middlezoy Rovers Charlie Bridges’ neat finish put the game to bed in favour of the visitors.

Odd Down (BATH) Development Vs Trowbridge Town Match Report
The Development entertain Trowbridge Town on a warm September’s evening at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground
The game was a fairly low key affair in the first 15 minutes, with the Trowbridge goalkeeper saving an shot on 6 minutes, before Trowbridge had a half chance from a corner on 11 minutes by Miluk deflected wide.
On 20 minutes, Trowbridge had the ball in the back of the net – Dan Kovacs with a great finish from Leigh Rogers free kick, only for the linesman to rule it out as offside.
Trowbridge had several chances over the next few minutes, as the Development gave away several free kicks – Kilbane had a header just over, whilst McKay sent another chance just wide from close range.
The momentum of the game was paused during the first half with two delays; a drinks break on 25 minutes, and not long after play restarted, a further delay following a tackle and altercation between the midfielder Jack OBrien and Trowbridge defender Ryan Baggs. After much deliberation, the result was a yellow card for OBrien
Odd Down Development took advantage of this to score, following a defensive mix-up at the back which saw Trowbridge concede an OG. Odd Down Development grew into the game for the next 5 or so minutes, hitting the bar before adding a well taken second goal trough striker Kyle Norris
Trowbridge rallied towards the end of the first half, and got their rewards when Jack Miluk was fouled in the box by Development defender Dan Scott. Trowbridge defender Leigh Rogers stepped up to convert the penalty and bring the scores back to 2-1.
Rogers was causing havoc again just 3 minutes later, his corner hitting the back of one defender, the front of another before falling kindly for Rustell to blast home from 3 yards out, levelling the scores at 2-2.
Miluk then raced in on goal and was brought down just outside of the box by the last man, although only a yellow card for defender Forster, much to the bemusement of the Trowbridge faithful.
In the second half, Odd Down Development scored quickly after the break through midfielder Tyrone Mulholland to put the Development 3-2 in front.
Going behind appeared to start a fire within the Trowbridge team, McKay, Miluk and Rogers all firing at the keeper in quick succession from 10-14 yards out, who pulled off some great saves.
McKay was then played through and fired a powerful shot into the top corner to level the scores at 3-3. Just 60 seconds later, Rustell drove in a low strike past the keeper to put The Bees 4-3 up, sending the travelling support into delirium.
Ramsey pulled off some excellent saves over the next 15 minutes, keeping out several Odd Down Development chances, before Jack Miluk slotted the ball under the keeper to make it 5-3, and seal all 3 points for Trowbridge.
Odd Down (BATH) AFC Vs Cheddar Match Report
Odd Down ended up on the wrong end of a seven goal thriller against Cheddar at the Lew Hill Memorial Gtound Yesterday.
It was the Down who went ahead inside the third minute through Tyrone Mulholland. However Cheddar hit back through Liam Graham and Elliott Keen to make it 2-1 after half an hour. There was then still time for Cheddar to add a third prior to the interval, with Oscar Collins making amends for an earlier penalty miss by slotting home to make it 3-1.
The Down regrouped well and was soon back in the game, with a quickfire double from inform player Milo Murgatroyd, which saw the hosts draw level with 20 minutes from time.
Unfortunately for Murgatroyd and his teammates, just fell short again, with George Fairchild’s attempted cross from a set-piece floating into the back of the net and giving Cheddar a memorable 4-3 victory.

Stonehouse Town Vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report
Two second half goals from Nick Humphreys saw Stonehouse Town come from 2-0 down to secure their first ever FA Vase win – beating Odd Down on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
Odd Down were two goals ahead at the break, thanks to a well taken double from Milo Murgatroyd – but an inspired Humphreys levelled the tie up after the restart to keep Stonehouse in the competition.
The hosts then had to overcome a Cam Rees red card to take the tie to spotkicks, with Adam Clark the hero saving from Odd Down’s Ben Millett.
This left Fin Rees the chance to set up Stonehouse’s trip to Eversley & California in the Second Qualifying Round on 23 September.
Craig Robinson’s men had gone into the game winning three in a row and they went close early on, but Luke Soule headed wide from a corner kick.
The opening 10-15 minutes or so saw the Hellenic League Division One side have the better of the game, but they couldn’t carve out more clear cut chances.
Then on 21 minutes, they were punished as Murgatroyd skipped past two defenders, rounded keeper Adam Clark and tapped into an empty net to break the deadlock.
Millett went close to a second for his side moments later, but his close range effort was deflected wide.
With ten minutes left of the first half, Odd Down doubled their lead as Murgatroyd was picked out by Millett’s cut back and the winger guided his effort into the bottom corner to leave Odd Down 2-0 up at half time.
Stonehouse did have a couple of good chances to pull one back before the break though, with Tiger Harris firing a corner over from close range and Tom Palmer curling a free kick over just before the half time whistle.
Stonehouse were back into the game inside the first five minutes of the restart as Alex Kibble’s diagonal found Nick Humphreys on the left side of the box. Humphreys cut back onto his right foot and placed his effort past the Odd Down keeper.
Lewis Bainbridge then whipped in a great cross from the right, but Tiger Harris could only head into the side netting.
Within two minutes, the game was all square. Humphreys met a corner with a strong header then squirmed into the bottom corner. Game on!
Stonehouse were awarded a penalty with just over 15 minutes to go when Luke Soule was pushed over at the back post, but Alex Kibble stepped up to see his penalty saved.
Cam Rees came off the bench but didn’t last too long in the contest, as he was shown a red card inside the final 10 minutes for kicking out at an Odd Down defender.
Both sides nearly won the tie in stoppage time, but after Odd Down saw a corner headed onto the roof of the Stonehouse goal, they were nearly caught out on break – but were relieved to see Bainbridge’s effort rebound off the foot of the post.
And with that, it was penalties!
Nick Humphreys and Raphael Waugh exchanged converted efforts, before Ryan Thwaite and Milo Murgatroyd followed suit.
Luke Soule put Stonehouse ahead, before Clark’s crucial save kept out Millett’s effort.
Lewis Bainbridge made it match point and after Tyrone Mulholland kept Odd Down in the tie it was left to Fin Rees to fire down the middle and secure Stonehouse’s spot in the Second Qualifying Round.

Odd Down (BATH) Development Vs Wroughton Match Report
The curtain was finally drawn on the Premier Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League this afternoon with the final game taking place at Lew Hill Memorial Ground. Where Odd Down (Bath) Development’s visitors over Wroughton. Wroughton had been unable to field a side last week but with so much at stake it was imperative that the game was played and thankfully that happened this weekend.
Odd Down (BATH) Development went into the game knowing that nothing less than a win was needed to ensure they remain in the Premier Division for another season. They got over the line in the end by the narrowest of margins, a penalty in the sixth minute from Cameron New being enough to retain their Premier Division status for another season as they ran out 1-0 winners in what has been a difficult season for the club following the death of manager Mark Brown.
Wroughton knocked on the door in the second half, creating a number of good chances, but couldn’t find that elusive equaliser.

Odd Down (BATH) Development Vs Salisbury Development Match Report
Odd Down (Bath) Development entertained a Salisbury FC Development side who had defeated them 5-2 last month but a much better showing in the return game saw Odd Down come away with a vital point in their quest to avoid the drop.
It was visitors Salisbury who took the lead five minutes before half-time. Abdul Razak has been in fine goal scoring form having scored in all of Salisbury’s last three games ahead of today's encounter and he extended that run with another making it five goals in four games to give Salisbury a half-time lead.
Salisbury came under immense pressure from the home side in the second half but held out until seven minutes from time when substitute Finley Little scored an equaliser in what was the Under 18 players debut.

Odd Down travel to Dorest last night to take on Gillingham Town in the Toolstation Western League Division One Fixture. Which ended one apiece.
The first half was a tight affair with chances kept to a minimum. The game did became quite scrappy with a number of niggly challenges and stoppages. It was the Down who took the lead with a near post header from Club Captain Luke Bryan from a well taken corner from Jake Thomas.
The second half saw Gillingham come out with more intent and purpose to their play. The game began to open up and after a number of substitutions which seemed to have paid off with Gillingham youngster Max Briggs slotting home the equaliser deep into injury time.
Many Thanks

Club Officers Report
Odd Down (BATH) Development headed to Frome Collegians with country bragging rights at stake. Collegians had returned from the Lew Hill Memorial Ground in the opening week of the season following a 3-0 win, but it was a much closer affair in the return match which was switched to the 3G at Selwood Academy with the pitch at the Old Showfield being waterlogged.
Odd Down made a great start scoring in the first minute through a fantastic shot from Jack OBrien. Theo Sing draw Frome level midway through the first half and then a looping header from Barry Sandquest put Frome in front for the first time. All three goals came in the first half in what was a competitive, physical game between the two Somerset sides.
It remained tight affair in the second half with chances at both ends. Odd Down efforts to get back on level terms were not helped when they were reduced to ten men following the sending off of Dave Cooper in the last ten minutes. The game finished 2-1 to Frome Collegians.
On Monday night our Under 18 sadly lost 2-1 to a very strong Bristol Manor Farm Under 18 at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground.

Match Report From Bank Holiday Monday Game at Wincanton Town.
Odd Down (BATH) AFC started 2023 with an huge disappointment at hands of Wincanton Town after being well beaten 7-2. Wincanton responded incredibly well after their surprise home defeat to local rivals Gillingham Town on Boxing Day.
Wincanton took an early lead through Jamie Thompson, the home side then continued to ram home their advantage with the returning Jamie Garner striking twice to put his side three to the good.
A goal middle way through the first half from Odd Down (BATH) AFC captain Luke Bryan threatened to spark a fightback for the Down, but that never materialised, with Wincanton Cam Vere and Jamie Thompson helping build a 5-1 lead midway through the second period.
Wincanton striker Jamie Garner then capped an excellent individual performance, by completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot . Following an off the ball incident with Odd Down (BATH) AFC defender Saracen Yates which the assistant match official deemed to be a penalty. Then Wincanton Louis Irwin adding a seventh to complete the scoring for the home side.
However there was still time for a consolation goal from Odd Down (BATH) AFC striker Courtney Charles, following good work from Odd Down (BATH) AFC midfielder Tyrone Mulholland. Which made the final score 7-2 to Wincanton.

Club Officers Report
On the opening day of the season we made the short trip to Oldland Abbotonians. The Down started brightly and had the better of the opening encounters, Luke Bryan scoring after 8 minutes, it was the perfect start. After going behind Oldland started to get back into the game, although never really troubling The Down’s defence. It was 1:0 to the away side at half time.
The second half got under way and it was Oldland who started the half on the front foot and pressing for the equaliser, which came from a sharp volley with The Down’s defence unable to do anything about it. That seem to raise The Down and in the 70th minute they were back in front with a finish from Josh Clark. Oldland came again, and with time running out they manage to get a free kick just out side the box, the resulting shot took a wicked deflection and ended up in the same corner of the net as their first, with our keeper stranded. The game ended with honours even at 2:2 although we were unlucky to come away with only a point.
Moving on to our first home game of the season, we had a midweek fixture against Hallen FC. This was another game where overall you would say The Down had the better of it, with out getting a result. The game was very even until the last 15 minute, where The Down were camped in the away sides half and chance after chance went begging, although the Hallen keeper did pull off some good saves to keep the scores level, and that’s how it ended 0:0 with no goals to report.

Club Officers Report
Good evening and welcome to the Lew Hill Memorial Ground for our opening home game of the season. Tonight we entertain Hallen FC, We hope they enjoy their short stay with us, and have a safe journey home.
As the new season starts, The Down has a new management team with last year’s Assistant Manager, Jason Maggs taking over as Manager with Clive Scott taking the Assistant’s role, with a few changes in the backroom staff. Under the new management team The Down were undefeated for all the pre-season friendlies, with a 1:1 draw with Bradford, a 1:0 win over a good Mangotsfield side, Thornbury were up next and The Down looked ready to begin this seasons campaign with a 3:1 win, and the final game was a 3:2 win away to Dursley. There was also 2 good wins in the Fry’s competition with a mixture of First team and the Development side, although we could not progress in this tournament, as player restrictions came into play.
We look forward to the coming season with some new signings, and by judging the friendlies an exciting style of football.
Please enjoy tonight’s game, and I look forward to seeing you in the bar to help support the club
Oldland Abbotonians Vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC Match Report.
Oldland Abbotonians twice came from behind to rescue a point at home to Odd Down in a topsy-turvy affair at the Aitchison Playing Field.
Last season’s top scorer Luke Bryan picked up where he left off a couple of months ago, taking just seven minutes to open his scoring tally, giving the Bath side a fast start in the process.
Owen McCallum then levelled for Oldland five minutes into the second half, before Bryan turned provider, laying on the assist for Josh Clark who restored Odd Down’s advantage.
They were unable to hang on however, and the Abbots grabbed a share of the spoils thanks to a superb free kick in the closing stages from Cash Vinall

Clark then levelled things 20 minutes from time, but Wincanton hit back once again, with Jamie Irwin setting them up for the win as the game headed towards the final ten.
Odd Down had the last word however, and it was Clark again who popped up in stoppage time to deny Wincanton at the death, scoring the sixth and final goal of a thrilling contest.

Club Officer Report
Firstly I would like to thank everyone who came along to our charity day and gave so generously, we raised over £500 for Bath Mind and to the Sherborne Town supporters who helped us get to that total.
The result did not go the way we wanted, losing 1:0, however the game was an even affair throughout with not to many clear cut chances for either side. Sherborne got an early lead on 17 minutes, a scruffy goal for The Down to concede through a lapse in concentration, this proved to be the only goal of the game, a draw would have been a fair result.
Moving onto our Somerset Premier Cup semi final clash with Yeovil Town, The game didn’t start well with The Down conceding after just 3 mins, look like it was going to be a long night. Against a very strong Yeovil side our lads started to get into the game and play some decent football and made it to half time with conceding any more. The second half got under way with Yeovil starting very quickly, they upped the pace and started playing good quality balls through to their front two and with in the space of 15 minute The Down were behind 4:0. The Down managed to steady the ship and kept at it although the difference between the two clubs was obvious, with Yeovil being 5 tiers higher. The home side got a fifth late on to win 5:0. Our lads played well against a side that had several first team players in and on a playing surface that suited the home side.
Back to the league and our trip to Radstock Town, The Down took an early lead in this one with Luke Bryan only for Radstock to equalise just 10 minutes later and then take the lead in the 38th minute, 2:1 to the home side at half time. The Down left it late, but came up with another from Luke Bryan for his second of the afternoon making it 2:2 at the final whistle.
Odd Down Fundraiser Nets £500 For Bath Mind.

Officers Report
Good afternoon and welcome to the Lew Hill Memorial Ground. Today we entertain Bishop Sutton FC , and hope they enjoy their short stay with us and have a safe journey home.
We have a few games to catch up with, starting with our away trip to Cadbury Heath in the Les Phillips Cup. The Down losing this one 3:0, although the game was a lot closer than the score-line would suggest, with the Down missing some really good chances before Cadbury Heath got on the scoresheet.
Next up, was our home game against high flying Wincanton Town, The Down never seemed to get going in this one and losing 3:1 with Luke Bryan getting a consolation goal.
Onto our quarter-final match with Wells City FC, on a cold and very wet Tuesday night with the pitch only just playable, the game kicked off and there was not much to talk about in the first half as the weather and the pitch made it hard to play any football of quality. The second half was much the same but now the Down had the wind behind them which led to a bit more pressure from the home side and the last ten minute of the game The Down perhaps should have got a winner, that was not to be and the game ended 0:0. No extra time we go straight to penalties, the away side had the first penalty and with a great save from Chris Blammon, 0:0 after the first penalty. First up The Down, Will Humphries who puts the ball straight down the middle, 1:0 The Down now in the driving seat. The away side get off the mark and score their next penalty 1:1. Next for The Down, Josh Clark, another good strike and it’s now 2:1 to the home side. Pressure on the sides player, a good strike but The Down’s keeper was equal to it and another good save. Up steps Emmanuel Adeptain, another terrific penalty 3:1 to The Down and in total control of the shoot out. The Wells City player steps up to with a must score penalty, strikes the penalty well but came up against a keeper in form and pulls off another save, game over The Down 3:1 winners on penalties and now face Yeovil Town in the semi final Tuesday 5th April.
The hero on the night Chris Blammon in the Odd Down goal with three penalty saves.
Please enjoy today’s game, and I look forward to seeing you in the bar for a drink to help support the club.

Fourth spot in the division now belongs to Wincanton Town after they registered a 3-1 win away at Odd Down. After goals from Dan Wise and Tom Richardson had put the Wasps in command, Luke Bryan halved the deficit for the
Down on the hour mark. Wise was the hero on the day for Wincanton, and his second set piece goal of the day proved crucial, restoring his side’s two-goal advantage 15 minutes from time.

Officers Report
Saturday 12th February, the Down travelled to Longwell Green FC for yet another away game. The down started the better of the two sides with some fast paced football on the new artificial pitch, and on 13 minutes were in front with Luke Bryan scoring from a Curtis Dunn free kick, which was almost identical to his goal against Wells in the previous game and on 20 minutes Luke Bryan grabbed his second from the spot. The Down were now flying and with a sharp finish from Rapheal Waugh it was now 3:0. Going towards the end of the first half Omar Simpson got on the score sheet with a second attempt after his initial shot was blocked, at 4:0 the Down are now cruising, however a lapse of concentration allowed Longwell Green to pull one back right on the half time whistle. The second half had just started and Josh Clark pushed the ball through for Luke Bryan to get his hattrick, 5:1 to the Down, no way back now for the home side, although they did pull another back to keep their hopes alive, however that was all ended when an own goal killed off the game and that was 6:2. It didn’t stop there Omar Simpson made it 7 with his second of the game, and Luke finished the day with another, making it four for him and eight for the Down. Longwell Green still came back and all credit to them, scored a consolation goal making the final score 8:3 to the Down in this eleven goal thriller.

Odd Down (BATH) AFC Under 18 Management Report.
The season started well for the 18s in the FA Cup winning an entertaining game on penalties versus Slimbridge, although we met our match in the next round
losing at home to Cirencester Town Development. A short run but good experience to be in the FA Cup!
Being in the Premier Floodlight League, we were given a tough start, earning a 1-1 draw at WSM, but then losing to front runners BMF and Clevedon. Mangotsfield away in the mud provided
the much deserved first league win of the season and since then despite some ‘ups and downs’ we have won three of the last four fixtures leaving us in a respectable current league position and in the
quarter finals of the league cup after a solid home win versus Portishead Town in the previous round winning 3-0.
The squad has great team spirit and really have grown as a team from last September, leaving us optimistic of finishing the season strongly.
Plans are already in place for next season, and discussions have been held to start including some of the current squad into the senior squads, building foundations for the club’s future and ensuring these players are retained. That is what the 18s are for!
Please come and support the team at one of our remaining fixtures.

Officers Report
Tuesday 1st February, the Down travelled to local rivals Welton Rovers FC on a blustery night Welton had the wind at their backs and made it difficult for the Down to clear their lines and on twelve minutes the home side took an early lead, the game continued as it started and midway through the half the Down went further behind with an own goal from a corner. Although the home side continued to press, the Down manage to make to half time without conceding any further goals, 2:0 to Welton at the break. The Down started the second in a much improved fashion, as they now had the wind at their backs and in the 65th minute through some neat passing sent Caelen Simpson on to a ball on the edge of the area and with a sharp strike it was 2:1. Then just 5 minutes later a free kick was awarded to the Down just inside the home sides half and with a wonder strike by Curtis Dunn it was 2:2, game on. The Down were now having the better of it but could not find the third and then in the closing minutes, Welton broke down the left and a low level cross sent in, a scramble for the ball in the six yard box, saw it fall the home sides striker who manage to force it in. Final score 3:2 to Welton.
Saturday 5th February the Down had yet another away trip this time to Wells City FC. The first half was an even affair, where not many clear cut chances were made, with both side cancelling each other out through the midfield we found ourselves at half time with no goals to report. The second half started much the same as the first, then on the 70th minute a free kick sent in by Curtis Dunn was met with a Luke Bryan header and the Down were one up. That seem to spark Wells into life and they mange a couple of breaks which they failed to convert thanks to some good defending and goal keeping. Going into the final minutes of the game Wells started to hit the ball long and over our defence, the ball bounced around in the box and finally was squeezed past the keeper to get the equaliser. 1:1 is how it finished, the Down unfortunately letting in another late goal to deny them all 3 points. The luck must change at some point for the team, still we have only been beaten once so far in 2022 and all but one have been away, there is a good spirit around the team with lots of positives and we are securing our place in the top third of the table.
Wells City Vs Odd Down (BATH) AFC
Odd Down were denied at the death on their away day at Wells, conceding deep into stoppage time in a 1-1 draw at the Athletic Ground.
After Luke Bryan had headed them in front after 65 minutes, they looked set to complete the double over Wells, but the hosts had other ideas, with Craig Herrod levelling affairs in the 97th minute.
Club Officer Report From The Lebeq Game.
Friday 28th January the Down travelled to Gloucester FC headquarters on their 3G pitch to play Lebeq United FC. The game got off to a bright start for the Down with Omar Simpson scoring with 14 minutes on the clock, from then on Lebeq grew into the game with some smart football being played and looked more a lot more comfortable than the away side and with some constant pressure found themselves in front of goal with just the keeper to beat, some how, Chris Blamford pulled off an amazing save from point blank range to deny the home side from equalising. Still under pressure the Down manage to make half time 1:0 to the good. The second half got under way and within six minutes the Down were 2:0 up through Rapheal Waugh. It was the same pattern as the first half, the Down had the early goal and it was all Lebeq after that with the Down making the occasion break. Then on the 70th minute a free kick just outside the box gave Lebeq their chance, the shot gave was so good the keeper never moved and Lebeq got one back. It was 2:1 to the Down going into the last ten and with the host pressing for another the ball went out for a goal kick. The ball was cleared into the Lebeq half and just booted straight back over the top and held up on the artificial pitch for their forward to run onto and lob the keeper, that was 2:2 just before the final whistle. Although the Down lost a 2:0 advantage overall a draw was a fare result.

On friday evening Lebeq with nine man end up fighting back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Odd Down. Goals either side of the interval from Omar Simpson and Raphael Waugh had put the Down in control, before a pin-point free kick from Jennison Williams found the top corner to half the deficit.
Then, despite having suffered two red cards on a dramatic night, Lebeq managed to grab an unlikely equaliser in the 15th minute of added time when Sacha Tong stroked the ball home.

Director Of Football Report .
The festive season marks the halfway point of the campaign and while for some, the roast turkey and trimmings will taste particularly sweet,
others might be gettinga lump of coal on Christmas morning
The highs
When Odd Down have got it right, they have been a joy to watch.
All Odd Down fans will agree that the most satisfying success, was against Paulton Rovers in the Somerset Premier Cup winning 3-2 in a penalty shootout.
AEK Boco, Wells City and drew with Longwell Green they also enjoyed a 1-0 triumph over Gillingham Town.
As of 15th January, the 1st team has gone 5 games unbeaten.
The lows
Odd Down have, frustratingly, tended to follow up encouraging victories with
dismal few results
Perhaps the most obvious example was fresh off beating Paulton Rovers win, going to Sherbourne Town after been leading the game found themselves chasing the game. Then losing to Warminster Town.
They shot themselves in the foot to lose 2-0 to Cheddar, they were well below
par as they were beaten 4-2 by Radstock Town
Star performance
November 2nd 2022 our 1st team played Paulton Rovers in Somerset Premier Cup an outstanding performance ending all square at 1-1, going to penalty Odd Down winning by 3-2
All so with the addition of Keith Brown by Nick to the management team.
the team has been playing as one unit and for each other, they've seen them gone from playing a good 45 minutes to 90 minutes and more.
During the game against ACK Boco they went down to 10 men following a player 10-minute sin bin
the 10 men played like they still have 11 players, also scoring a goal with 10 men.
Next Round of the Cup
They now face Wells City in the next round at home on: Tuesday 15th February.
What needs to improve
A combination of missed opportunities and conceding sloppy goals has cost the points throughout the season.
Target for the season
To stay in Division 1 for another season and continue to build, for the 2022/23 season.
My prediction is a respectable top - 6 finish.
COVID -19
After 2 cancelled season due to Covid-19 this 2021/22 season is Nick & Jason’s first full season which is going very well and according to plan.
Not only has he rebuild his squad he’s also got a good management team behind him.

Officers Report
Our first game back after the Christmas break saw the Down come back from a goal down to draw against Longwell Green FC, on a very heavy pitch and poor conditions the home side had the better of the first half only to go into the break 1:0 down. The second half was totally opposite to the first with Longwell Green having the better half only for the Down to equalise through Francois Allen, score being 1-1 at full time.
Next up for the Down, a trip to AEK Boco. A fast start by the away side, saw them take the lead after only 3 minutes with a ball played through to Omar Simpson who took the ball down with great control and a sharp finish the Down were one up. Odd Down kept the pressure on throughout the half and were rewarded with a second goal from Saracen Yates from a great Curtis Dunn corner in the 32nd minute, 2-0 to the Down at half time. The game was a feisty affair with players from both sides going in the book, the Down kept their heads and with a good defensive performance saw out the half to get their third clean sheet of the season. 2-0 to the Down and up to 4th in the league.
